Daniel Weltlinger / Nigel Date Band

Daniel Weltlinger began playing violin at age 4. He became a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra as a teenager. Inspired by his love of jazz and improvising, he inevitably found other musicians who shared his interest. He became a founding member of the popular Monsieur Camembert. In recent years he has enjoyed success working with Glass, Peppermint T, The Ticklers, Nadya’s 101 Candles Orchestra, Slava Grigoryan and in Europe with The Lulo Reinhardt Project.

Daniel is much in demand for session and performance work with countless bands. His violin has taken him to play on every continent.

Nigel Date is a Sydney based guitarist known for his work with Peppermint T and The Straight Back Fellows as well as a sideman to many of Sydney’s leading jazz musicians. With Nigel’s older brother Ian, they form the duo The Date Brothers, which is seeing them busy each year at festivals and concerts throughout the world.

Together Nigel and Daniel have performed together hundreds of times over many years. The passion for the music and the joy it creates is evident immediately upon hearing them.
