Paul Bulanyi's Manouche Partie
Gypsy Swing is also commonly referred to as ‘Django’s music’. Django Reinhardt was a Manouche gypsy as well as a musical genius, and is still regarded as the greatest jazz musician to come out of Europe.
Drawn together by a love of this style, and the charm of the Parisian culture it reflects, Manouche Partie also pays homage to the classic recording by accordionist Jo Privat, featuring guitarist Pierre 'Baro' Ferret. This is a celebration of Django's contribution, and also retains a strong link with the exciting waltzes from the Bal Musette era.
The Manouche groups this year - Paris Dreaming, Eurobop 5, Bois et Charbon and The Gypsy Swingers - are all written up as individual bands this year.
