About Us

The Bellingen Jazz and Blues Festival which began in 1990, provides three days of live music designed to present a cross section of jazz and blues styles performed by the best musicians available. The aim is to provide a program containing “something for everyone”.

Staged in Bellingen, with its pristine river and historic streetscape, the Festival presents around 35 performances in a number of centrally located venues, over three days. The venues include the Federal Hotel, the Memorial Hall, Council Grounds and the Bellingen Community Markets. The spread and diversity of these locations creates variety and ensures a vibrant, community atmosphere. The town buzzes with activity. There is jazz in the pub and in the park beside the council chambers, intimate jams in small venues, and late night grooves in clubs.

The hallmark event is Sunday's ‘Jazz by the Riverside’.  This 'big day out' brings thousands of people together to enjoy wonderful music and picnic on the banks of the Bellinger River.  Bring some fold-up chairs or a rug, a few BYOs and a picnic lunch or visit the on-site food stalls and enjoy wonderful music in a carnival atmosphere.

Local eateries also provide a wide range of cuisine, adding an extra dimension to the day and encouraging people to stay in town for longer to enjoy the music.
